Long Weekend Getaway: Muskoka, CA
Sometimes, the best vacation days only require a few things: a getaway house to sleep and cook in — plus a couple of friends to share meals and hang with.
Weeks ago, my husband and I flew to Canada where we met up with my childhood friends for a weekend retreat. The plan was simple: rent a house; cook good food; bring some wine; and just relax. The destination? Muskoka.
Two hours north of Toronto, Muskoka's cool, late spring air welcomed us as we drove through miles of pine and maple trees, farm lands, small towns and villages. Although a gang of mosquitoes and black flies surprised us as we reached our beautiful, secluded cottage house overlooking the lake — we just couldn't care less. There's too much time to spend, doing absolutely nothing.
Here's a look at the weekend.
