Summer's End
As the summer officially comes to a close, and as we welcome the onset of pumpkin flavored food everywhere, I want to take a look back and share some of my favorite summer photos and notable food spots.
I believe most would agree that it's best to stay on Long Island in the summer; The heat and congestion in the city can get painful, while Long Island's beaches and state parks offer a relaxing, breezy retreat.
Although food options are limited, there are still some that are worthy of a day trip and could rival what city dining can offer.
I had the pleasure of trying out Relish, while meeting a friend for breakfast one summer day and I was charmed by its interiors, great service, and fluffy pancakes. It's also great to know they source their ingredients locally and has a warm, family-friendly atmosphere.
There is also Blackstone, which easily became one of my favorite steakhouses in both the island and the city. Although pricey, the sushi and steak I had from them knocked me off my feet.
On a side note, I've also been spending my lunch hour all summer high on cold brew.
Until next time, summer. I will not miss your extended stay this year.
