Hi.

I love coffee, live music, and exploring neighborhoods on weekends in New York.

Long-Island-City

One of the best places to see in New York City sits along the East River and is frequently overlooked in travel itineraries.

Gantry Plaza State Park in Long Island City, Queens offers the best panoramic view of Midtown Manhattan and is a quiet retreat from the chaos of most New York tourist spots.

It's not as "hip" as Brooklyn is, but I won't be surprised to see this side of Queens boom into a more developed, popular neighborhood given the rising number of residential towers sprawling in the neighborhood.

It's best to visit the park at dusk, when the city lights slowly glimmer into the night—a must-see for tourists and locals alike.

There are plenty of restaurants around the area to choose from but if you're more into Manhattan's food scene, Grand Central Terminal is just a stop away on the 7 train.
